UNSEEN PASSAGE

The Value of Time

Passage carefully পড়ে প্রশ্নগুলির উত্তর দাও।

PASSAGE

Time is one of the most valuable things in human life. Money that is lost can sometimes be earned again, but lost time can never be recovered. For this reason, a wise person learns to use time carefully.

Students especially need to understand the value of time. A student who follows a regular routine can complete lessons, revise important topics and still have enough time for rest. On the other hand, a student who continually postpones work often becomes anxious when examinations approach.

Proper use of time does not mean working every minute of the day. Rest, recreation and sleep are also necessary. The real purpose of time management is to maintain a healthy balance between work and rest. Small but regular efforts often produce better results than a large amount of work done at the last moment.

A. Choose the correct answer
01

07

Is proper time management the same as working all day?

Answer: No. Proper time management includes a healthy balance between work, rest, recreation and sleep.
C. Answer briefly
08

Why is time management particularly important for students?

A proper routine helps them complete their work regularly without unnecessary stress and also allows sufficient time for rest.
09

What lesson does the passage teach about regular effort?

SET 02
UNSEEN PASSAGE

Reading and Knowledge

Information-based comprehension এবং vocabulary practice।

PASSAGE

Reading is more than a way of passing leisure time. A good book can introduce a reader to people, places and ideas that may be completely different from his or her own experience. Reading therefore helps people understand the world from different points of view.

Regular reading also develops language skills. Students who read carefully often learn new words naturally from their context. They become familiar with sentence structures and gradually learn how ideas can be expressed clearly.

However, reading should not be limited to memorising facts. A thoughtful reader asks questions, compares ideas and thinks about what the writer is trying to communicate. In this way, reading becomes an active process rather than a passive habit.

A. Choose the correct answer
01

What can a good book introduce a reader to?

(a) Only familiar people (b) Different people, places and ideas (c) Only difficult words (d) Only facts
Answer: (b) Different people, places and ideas
02

How can regular reading improve language skills?

(a) By avoiding new words (b) By memorising every page (c) By learning words and sentence structures (d) By reading only titles
Answer: (c) By learning words and sentence structures
03

A thoughtful reader does which of the following?

(a) Only memorises facts (b) Avoids questions (c) Compares ideas and thinks about the writer’s message (d) Reads without understanding
Answer: (c) Compares ideas and thinks about the writer’s message
B. Answer in brief
04

Why does reading help us understand different points of view?

Answer: Books introduce readers to different people, places and ideas, helping them see the world from different perspectives.
05

How do students learn new words while reading?

Answer: They often understand and learn new words naturally from their context.
06

What makes reading an active process?

Answer: Asking questions, comparing ideas and thinking about the writer’s message make reading an active process.
C. Answer briefly
07

Why should reading not be limited to memorising facts?

Answer: Reading is not merely the memorisation of information. A thoughtful reader should understand the writer’s ideas, compare different viewpoints and think about the meaning of the text. Such reading develops understanding rather than simple memory.
08

What are two language benefits of regular reading?

Answer: Regular reading helps students learn new vocabulary and become familiar with different sentence structures. It also helps them express ideas more clearly.
D. Vocabulary Practice
09. leisure Meaning: free time
10. familiar Antonym: unfamiliar
11. gradually Meaning: slowly / step by step
12. clearly Antonym: unclearly
13. thoughtful Meaning: showing careful thought
14. passive Antonym: active

PRACTICE 01

Write a paragraph on “The Importance of Trees”.

MODEL ANSWER

The Importance of Trees

Trees are one of the most important gifts of nature. They give us oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide from the air. They provide us with fruits, flowers, wood, medicine and shade. Trees also help to maintain ecological balance and protect the soil from erosion. They provide shelter to many birds and animals. Today forests are being destroyed rapidly for human needs. As a result, environmental problems are increasing. Therefore, we should plant more trees and protect the trees that already exist. Saving trees means saving our environment and our future.

Writing Points Introduction → Importance → Benefits → Present problem → Solution → Conclusion
PRACTICE 02

Write a paragraph on “A Rainy Day”.

MODEL ANSWER

A Rainy Day

A rainy day is a common experience during the monsoon season. On such a day, the sky remains cloudy and dark. Rain may fall continuously for several hours. Roads and fields become wet and water often collects in low-lying areas. Children enjoy playing in the rain, while farmers welcome rainfall because it is useful for agriculture. However, heavy rain may cause traffic problems and waterlogging in towns and cities. A rainy day therefore brings both joy and difficulties.

MODEL ANSWER

The Value of Time

Time is one of the most valuable things in human life. Money lost can sometimes be earned again, but lost time can never be recovered. A successful person knows how to use time properly. Students should make a routine and complete their work on time. Wasting time in unnecessary activities can create problems later. Proper use of time develops discipline and helps us achieve our goals. Therefore, everyone should understand the value of time and make the best use of every moment.

UNSEEN PASSAGE

The Value of Time

Time is one of the most valuable things in human life. Money that is lost may sometimes be earned again, but a moment that has passed can never be brought back. Successful people understand the importance of time and try to use every moment wisely. They do not necessarily work all the time; rather, they learn to arrange their work according to its importance.

Students also need to understand the value of time. A student who prepares lessons regularly does not have to depend on last-minute study. Proper use of time also allows students to enjoy recreation, develop hobbies and take care of their health. On the other hand, careless use of time often creates stress and unnecessary pressure.

Time management does not mean filling every minute with work. It means knowing what should be done and when it should be done. A simple plan, followed regularly, can help a person achieve a great deal. Therefore, learning to respect time is one of the most useful habits a person can develop.
